Can You Paint? Yes you can!

So many people have the mistaken belief that they could never be able to draw or paint — that artists have a magical inborn "talent" and that they weren't lucky enough to have "it."  Well, welcome to my blog. I believe differently . . . sure . . some people see lines, shapes, values and color relationships a little easier, but once pointed out,  most anyone will see them and say, "Oh, now I get it."

I think that anyone can learn to paint, perhaps not like Michaelangelo or Monet, or even their art teacher, but, in their own style. Learning to draw and paint is learning to see in a certain way — seeing lines and big shapes in what you are drawing  — recognizing values, light, medium and dark, and simplifying colors in a painting, and, most of all, having a strong desire to do it and a willingness to PRACTICE . . .  PRACTICE . . . PRACTICE!

So YES, you can do it . . . you can absolutely learn to draw and paint.

Look what a friend of mine accomplished. She had never really drawn faces before and began going to a drawing group here in town. With months of practice, dedication and learning from others she is now drawing beautiful portraits.   See . . .  you can do it too.
